Your Portrait Session

What do I need to do to prepare for my photographs?

Each school is a little bit different, depending on what your school requires for the yearbook.  When you make your appointment, we will let you know the requirements specific to your school.  You will also receive an email with details 3 days before your portrait appointment. Watch this short video for to prepare in general for your portraits.

What is a session fee?

A session fee is the amount you pay for your photo session. The amount will vary based on how many photos you would like taken. The fee helps pay for the photographer’s time and travel to your school site. We also offer a free basic yearbook session for inclusion in the yearbook. Please remember, the session fee does not mean you are purchasing physical prints of your portraits or digital files.

What are proofs?

Proofs are printed hard copy versions of the images taken of you at your photo session with “Proof” written across them. They are not final portraits, but they do offer the best possible view of what your finished printed portrait will look like. Proofs are available for purchase only at photography for only $5. They will be mailed home to the address that you designate at the time of your photo session. If you decide not to purchase hard copy proofs, your only option will be to view low resolution files of your portrait images online.

What happens after I have my portraits taken?

Because most of our portraits are taken on location, it takes a little time to get them posted online.  Even with today’s digital world, we need to receive the paperwork and images from the photographer before we can post them.  In general, your portraits will be posted online within 2-3 weeks.  You will receive an email when they are available to be viewed online with instructions on how to select an image for the yearbook. Please allow 24 hours from when you first receive your email for all your portraits to be uploaded.

I received an email saying I still have not taken my photos, but I went to my session and took photos. Is there something wrong with my portraits?

Our system automatically sends out reminder emails for anyone who does not have photos uploaded into their account. So, if you already took your portraits but are still waiting for the photos to be uploaded, you may receive this email. Please disregard it. If there is a problem with your session, our office will email you about the issue directly.

How long does it take for the photos to be uploaded into my account?

Your portraits will be uploaded within 2-3 weeks of your session and you will receive an email when they are ready for viewing. Please allow up to 24 hours from receiving your email for all your portraits to be uploaded to your account. It takes about 6 weeks for hard copy proofs to be mailed to you.

I don't like my portraits, can I have them retaken?

Yes, we are happy to retake your portraits as many times as you like until you are 100% satisfied with how they turned out.  We never charge for retakes.  You may mix and match your sessions when you place your finished portrait order. To schedule a retake, simply login using your client ID and password that you created when you made your first appointment and click the schedule appointment tab. You will schedule another appointment just as you did with the first one. Let the photographer know that you are coming in for a retake and they will waive the session fee.

Although we offer retakes for free, please keep in mind that we are only on campus for a limited time. Make sure that you consider this when choosing a date for the first appointment. Unfortunately, a retake may not be an option if we are no longer on campus.

If you have any questions not answered here, please call our office at 951-272-8600 or email us at info@LaurenStudios.com and we will be glad to assist you. We are open Mon-Fri 6AM-5PM PST.
